Karmen Hutton, a Master degree holder from the University of South Africa in clinical psychology started her own practice in multiple locations along the West Coast of Cape Town in Table View and Parklands, in early 2016, where she focuses on providing high-quality psychotherapy for adolescents, adults, couples, and families.

Psychotherapy, often referred to as “talk therapy” is a method used to help clients speak about their emotions and thoughts to help them identify and diagnose the contributing factors and causes for specific types of behaviours. Psychotherapy is a reliable method of therapy for marital issues (such as infidelity, conflict and separation/divorce), adolescent and adult emotional and behavioural issues such as trauma, anxiety and stress, depression, abuse, and addiction, and families, dealing with separation and divorce, parental conflict, abuse or trauma.

Karmen believes that the therapeutic relationship between the psychologist and the client is key, as creating a warm, welcoming and non-judgemental environment in which the client can speak freely is important in helping the client open up about their thoughts and emotions when dealing with the various aspects where psychotherapy is a reliable method of treatment.

Karmen is also a specialist in parental support¬†and is a certified facilitator for the Circle of Security and Babies in Mind workshops that help parents cope better through the various phases of their children’s lives from newborn through to school years, helping parents and guardians build stronger bonds with their children.
